-
HERDD pet litter is sustainably derived from untreated, 100% natural Northland, NZ grown radiata pine trees.
Our litter is made from the highest density pine in NZ, providing superior litter & bedding for kiwi pets.
-
Our unique Northland pine is highly absorbent, with rich hygroscopic properties that effectively soak up urine & moisture.
-
Natural pine oils effectively reduce smelly odours.
-
Our 14 litre bag provides enough litter to last ~6-8 weeks (maybe even more we’ve HERDD!) per pet using a standard 4L tray & 3cm litter depth.
-
A comfortable & inviting litter box is essential for our furry friends. HERDD offers a rounded, gentle texture that ensures a pleasant experience under your pet's paws. & when it’s soiled, HERDD is still soft, with no sharp or jagged edges. Crafted without chemicals, HERDD is suitable for the most sensitive of pet skin.
-
100% compostable litter & the bag can be composted too. Dig soiled litter into your garden (see below & our Socials for plants that love HERDD!). You can also repurpose bags as garden weed mat, wrapping paper or drawing paper for the kids. Or, simply recycle it in council collection. See our HERDD hacks!
-
HERDD pet litter is not just for cats. You can use it with all types of pets.
Add a 1:1 ratio of water to dry HERDD out of the bag, wait 15 minutes & see it expand to 4x the volume.
You'll end up with a soft fluffy bed for rabbits, chickens, laying hens, guinea pigs & whatever else needs a bedding.

“Don’t under estimate the performance & ease-of-use of HERDD’s pine cat [pet] litter. It may seem simple compared to the other cat litters, but it’s soo good as a litter but also to use & dispose of.”
— cat owner

Instructions for use
. Fill litter tray with HERDD pet litter to a depth of approximately 3cm
. Remove solids and wet soiled litter daily to maintain good hygiene (soiled litter will be damp & starting to clump)
. Top up the tray with HERDD pet litter once a week, or as needed to maintain a litter depth of 3cm
. Soiled HERDD pet litter can be composted, dug into the garden (scroll down to read more on this) or disposed of in council collection
. Once you’ve finished the bag, use it as weed mat in the garden, compost it, use it as a bin liner, or simply recycle it in council collection (see HERDD hacks below)
. If you want a soft fluffy bedding for your Bunnies, Mice or Chickens, simply sprinkle HERDD pet litter with some water & wait 15 minutes for it to fluff!
TIP: Place an empty HERDD pet litter bag (flattened), or cardboard, under your litter tray covering a distance beyond the tray’s perimeter - this makes tidying up easier for messy pets who like to ‘splash’ litter
Psst. it’s always a good idea to wash your hands after handling pet litter 💩
From forest to fur baby, HERDD pet litter is 100% NZ made & good for the environment

Someone say you need soft, fluffy bedding?
for your rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, mice, rats, puppies, Ag Day pets, or reptiles?
Take your HERDD pet litter, & add 1 part water to 1 part HERDD pet litter

When you’re done with the empty bag, you can hack it
{that’s Gen Z chat for ‘repurpose it’}
Lol. Sorry {not sorry}.
-
Line a rubbish bin or use as a rubbish bag that you can tie shut!
-
Flatten the bag & place in the garden as weed matting. Remember, you can put soiled HERDD pet litter in the garden around plants too (gardenias, azaleas, roses, hydrangeas, camellias & other acidic-soil-loving plants love HERDD pet litter)
-
What cat doesn’t love a paper bag to rustle up & jump in?
Pull the bag’s tie off the bag, for some extra fun
-
Flatten the bag, cut off the bottom (flat) section, & slice down the side of the bag. Separate the 2-plys, & wah-lah! You have some wrapping paper.
Remove the tie from the bag, & tie into a bow to make your present extra cute
-
Just like the instructions for wrapping paper, flatten out your empty bag & remove the tie.
You’ll be left with a wrap that you can wrap around a bunch of flowers from your garden & gift to a friend ♡
-
Flatten the bag & cut into a flat piece of paper (like in the instructions for wrapping paper above).
You can pull apart the 2-ply paper, & get 2 BIG pieces of paper to keep the kids busy
-
Once you are ready to clean out soiled HERDD, put it around plants in garden beds or in pot plants.
You can also use 'unactivated' (straight out of the bag) HERDD, to soak up liquid spills.

Well, did you know…
Soiled HERDD pet litter makes awesome organic matter for your plants!
HERDD is mildly acidic (pH 4-6) organic matter which these ‘acid-loving’ plants thrive in. So next time you’re cleaning out your pet’s litter box, add soiled HERDD as mulch to plants, or add it into your compost heap to ‘cook’ a bit more. Earth worms looove it!
